A Weekend In London

Hello! I've finally found the time to sit down and write about the wonderful weekend I spent down in London with my mum. My mum lives in Chelmsford, Essex and It's great as whenever I plan to go down and visit, we always make sure we have exciting things to see and do whilst I'm there.

So, I travelled down on the Friday after work, arriving in Stratford at around half past ten. We went to a gorgeous Indian Restaurant called London Durbar, and we sat down to a much needed dinner! I'm a huge fan of Indian food, so I was very excited. The menu was really good, plenty of choice and the service was brilliant. Considering we went in so late, there was still a great atmosphere and almost all tables were full! I enjoyed a gorgeous Chicken Tikka Masala (Not my usual choice, but I fancied something different), and then we headed home. By this point it was quite late, so we settled in for the night ready for a full day of shopping the next day!

Saturday was a day dedicated to shopping. We went to the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, which, if you haven't been, is amazing! I couldn't believe how many shops and restaurants there were. I'm so used to going to the Trafford Centre in Manchester, and I thought that was big! Anyway, Westfield certainly didn't disappoint. I had to go to my absolute favourite shop, Victoria's Secret. I love everything about this shop, the smell, the clothing, the underwear, everything! I tried to be good however, and only bought myself one item, a nice sweater style jumper with a zip that only goes down quarter of the way, which is so so cosy! I love Victoria's Secret 'Pink', however it can be a little pricey, so I only treat myself if I really like something.

I chose the small size, as I tried it on over the top I was wearing and it was roomy and comfy. I hate it when I buy a jumper and it's snug, I love being cosy and having plenty of room! It's a beautiful burgundy colour, which I know isn't really practical for summer, however I loved it and I've been waiting for the right one for so long! It cost me £49.50, which I know is steep, however I have been waiting and waiting for one that I love!
I then got this beautiful pair of sunglasses and a pair of sparkly golden sandals from Aldo. I loved everything in Aldo and the shoes are so comfortable! I highly recommend Aldo for any shoes, sandals or even boots as I can wear them all day and they don't hurt! My sandals cost £40 and the Sunglasses cost me £12, which I think is really good for a nice pair of sunglasses.

After shopping we headed home, had a girly night and went to bed early as we had a very busy Sunday ahead!

Sunday was such a busy day, we started off heading over to Leicester Square to the National Portrait Gallery. My mum had booked tickets for us to go and see the Vogue 100 - A Century Of Style and it was simply incredible. We then went to the Celebrating Charlotte Bronte: 1816 - 1855 exhibition, which I was amazed to hear was free entry! I don't know about you, but I am a huge Bronte fan, having visited Haworth on several occasions. The exhibitions were both amazing, I love being able to take the time to view artefacts and imagery that we wouldn't normally have the opportunity to see.

After this exciting morning we headed to London Excel. I have been so excited to write this post, as I'm so passionate about London and being a proper tourist! Anyway, we seen the afternoon at Grand Designs Live! Well all I can say is I was in heaven. I love watching Grand Designs and dreaming of the day I will have my own beautifully designed, grand home. The exhibition was huge and was split into 4 sections, Interiors, Garden, Build and Kitchen & Bathroom.

I didn't manage to take as many photos as I would have liked, as it was so busy and I was so engulfed by the incredible designs and interiors. I did manage to catch a talk by Kevin himself which was really interesting. He spoke about how the Grand Designs team are thorough with each and every client they have, visiting them frequently throughout the process and the amount of time that goes into the whole process is crazy! Over 200 hours of filming has to be selected down to one small hour! Crazy!

(I know its blurry but... I got to see Kevin!)

The exhibition filled me with inspiration and ideas for when I get a home of my own, as there are so many amazing things that can be done nowadays! The quality of the show was also so impressive, with a green carpet running throughout and cute backdrops of blue skies and white fluffy clouds. The whole atmosphere was great and the day seemed to fly by. I will definitely be getting myself tickets to next years show too! Unfortunately I can't remember how much I paid for this years ticket and the website no longer shows the price as the show is finished, however keep an eye on the site towards the next show and you'll be able to find out more then!

Thanks for reading! See you soon xo
