A Girly Weekend in London

A few weeks ago I travelled down to London for a girly weekend filled with afternoon tea, champagne, shopping and chic flicks. It was the perfect excuse to carry out some much needed retail therapy, indulge in deliciously naughty cakes and laugh to my hearts content at Bridesmaids (my absolute favourite film). The main reason for my trip to London was for my mums birthday, and it after lots of planning, we had a fabulous weekend!

I had spent weeks in advance planning what we could do, trying to figure out exactly where we should go and how to make it extra special for her. I researched all popular afternoon tea spots in London and after lots and lots of searching, I came across the beautiful Grovsenor House Hotel.

After arriving at the Grovsenor House Hotel, we were greeted by a lovely doorman who showed us indoors, which instantly made it feel special. The entrance to the hotel was incredible. Beautiful marble floors and a stunning arrangement of flowers on a grand table.

We headed into the Park Room, which is one of the restaurants in the hotel, and it equally as beautiful. After being seated at a stunning table next to the window, we selected our afternoon tea choice and enjoyed some very nice tea.

We selected from the Anna's Afternoon Tea menu and decided on a selection of tasty treats. My mum doesn't eat meat so we were able to swap the meat choices for some tasty veggie options. We also added champagne to the menu as we wanted it to be that little bit more special.

The decor in the Park Room was beautiful. It was such a glamorous location and the staff all looked pristine and were very efficient. We were one of the first to arrive at the Park Room, however it soon filled up and had a great vibe. There was also a pianist playing the grand piano in the background, which set the tone perfectly.

We were really impressed with the selection of treats brought to us for our afternoon tea, especially as we had the choice of additional sandwiches that were brought round frequently by the staff. It was the perfect amount of food, as even though the treats were small, they were very filling.

After filing up on delicious scones, sandwiches and other tasty treats, the lady who was serving us pointed out the HUGE cake counter. I don't know how but I'd managed to completely look past this and not realised we had even more food to enjoy. I was already really full, but I couldn't say no to a slice of chocolate fudge cake...

Before we left I wanted to check out the ladies room, as I knew it was going to be impressive, and it was. You could have spent hours doing your makeup and getting ready in the ladies room here, it was incredible.

After a lovely morning spent having afternoon tea, we decided to head to our favourite places. We went to Liberties, Selfridges and then spent a good few hours on Oxford Street. It's safe to say we had a really girly day and had lots of fun!

Even though I love living in the beautiful town of Harrogate, there is something amazing about London that makes it so special every time you visit. I love spending hours shopping and trying out all of the beautiful places to eat. Where is your favourite place to shop in London? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed reading about my girly London weekend!
